Antoine's Scapada

The guy is funny but he's not joking!

When he discovered Massacan in Arnaud Manzanini's Ultra Talk podcast, Antoine was immediately hooked.

Spirit, energy, passion for cycling and adventure: exactly what he was looking for to change his ride.

And since he doesn't do things by halves, he came down from Dijon to our workshop to collect his Scapada in person, before testing it out on the slopes of the Col de la Madone.

The result? Love at first sight.

His bike

Antoine rides a Scapada 2.0 , the latest evolution of the model, equipped with the new UDH dropout and increased clearance to accommodate tires up to 40 mm.

A true all-terrain bike, designed for both fast road and ultra riding, and for escaping onto more adventurous terrain.

Aesthetically, Antoine opted for Olympic White , the same immaculate white chosen for Paula, in a glossy finish. A color that is both understated and timeless, which highlights the taut lines of the SCAPADA and gives it a decidedly elegant look.

The editing is like the project: balanced and classy, but above all versatile.

The transmission is entrusted to the latest SRAM Force AXS , with a double 48/35 tooth chainring, associated with a 10-33 cassette.

A wise choice for combining speed on the flat, agility in the mountains and endurance over long distances.

The cockpit is entirely by Vision , with a Trimax Carbon handlebar and an SMR2 stem with a marked angle of –10°, which tightens the line of the cockpit and gives the bike an aggressive character.

The FSA SL-K carbon seatpost completes the package with lightness and stiffness.

Antoine wanted to reassemble his own wheels, in order to rediscover familiar sensations and test their behavior on this new frame.

The result: a bike with two faces.

A companion capable of speeding along ultra-distance routes, of climbing the Col de la Madone with panache, but also of venturing without hesitation onto wilder terrain where its generous tire clearance makes all the difference.

In conclusion

Who better than the lucky owner to talk about it?

How did you discover Massacan?

“It was while listening to Arnaud Manzanini’s Ultra Talk podcast that I heard about Massacan. And I was immediately hooked.”

Why did you choose Scapada?

“I was looking for a road bike that wasn't too rigid for its intended use. I wanted to be able to fit wide tires so I could venture out everywhere: bikepacking, ultra distance, a bit of off-roading… Scapada ticked all the boxes.”

And the custom color, why this choice?

"It was a chance to get a unique bike, in my color. It's not every day you get to ride a frame you've actually chosen from A to Z. So cool."

(Editor's note: We found Olympic White so cool on Scapada that we made it a standard color)

What did you like about Massacan or the bike itself?

"What attracted me was the energy they give off. The vibe is really good. At Massacan, they're not just people who make bikes, they're people who are passionate about cycling, riding, and adventure. And that's exactly what I was looking for when I changed my bike."

You still came down from Dijon to pick it up, why?

“I really wanted to meet the team in person, put faces to names, see the bike being assembled, feel the atmosphere in the workshop. And that makes the experience even more special.”

You just thought you were going to leave with a nice bike... but after your baptism at the Col de la Madone, what was it like?

“Honestly? Wow. The first few turns of the pedals were magical. The bike is super responsive, I felt good on it straight away. And then the look… it’s seriously eye-catching! I couldn’t help but stop countless times to take pictures whenever the scenery was right.”

Since then, how many kilometers have you run? Races? Podiums? What's next?

“Since I got it, the miles have flown by quickly. I did a bikepacking trip in the Vosges, and my first 300 km race: Les Géants. I finished 4th.

Next big goal: RAF 2026, 2500 km. I'm going back with SCAPADA!!!, and I hope to do better than this year (6 days and 59 minutes).
